Historic Downtown Vero Beach keeps its calendar on two Fridays a month. On the first Friday, the galleries along 14th Avenue stay open for an evening stroll. On the last Friday, Main Street Vero Beach closes the avenue for Downtown Friday. In October 2026 those two Fridays bracket the month, and the second one falls on Oct. 30. That makes the season opener the night before the City of Vero Beach's 66th Halloween Parade, which also ends on 14th Avenue.
For mainland households around Vero Beach Country Club, downtown's whole October comes down to a handful of dates. The gallery night opens the month. The two Halloween events close it, about twelve and a half hours apart. A pub that has been on the avenue for years now operates under a new name.
The First Friday Opens the Month
The First Friday Gallery Stroll runs Friday, Oct. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. The Vero Beach Art Club lists its Gallery & Marketplace at 1903 14th Ave. as a stroll location, with gallery viewing, artist demonstrations and marketplace shopping. The Indian River Guardian's Sept. 24 cultural calendar also names Artists Guild Gallery and Gallery 14 as participants for the Oct. 2 stroll. No full list of participating galleries has been published. Plan on those three as confirmed and look for others once you're on the avenue.
The next stroll is Friday, Nov. 6, also from 5 to 8 p.m.
After Oct. 2, the downtown calendar goes quiet for most of the month. Downtown Friday hasn't run since its May 29 finale. Main Street Vero Beach's own page still says so:
Our next Downtown Friday is 10/30, thanks for joining last season!
Over the summer, the organization pointed people toward Meet Me on Main and other smaller events. That leaves five months between last season's May 29 finale and the Oct. 30 return.
Twelve and a Half Hours on 14th Avenue
Main Street calls the Oct. 30 event "Monster Mash on Main Street," and it bills the night as the kickoff to the season. GHO Homes, the series' official partner, is presenting it. The evening has Jesse and the Thieves on stage, DJ Jason Patzer, a haunted maze, food trucks, local makers, and trick-or-treating with vendors and downtown businesses.
The next morning, the city's Recreation Department runs its 66th Halloween Parade and Costume Contest on the same part of downtown. Here's the weekend in order:
- Friday, 3 p.m. 14th Avenue closes so Main Street can set up. The page doesn't say which blocks close.
- Friday, 6 to 9 p.m. Monster Mash, with live music, the haunted maze and trick-or-treating.
- Saturday, 9:30 a.m. Parade lineup in the Women's Club parking lot, 1534 21st St.
- Saturday, 10 a.m. The parade heads east on 21st Street, turns left onto 14th Avenue, and continues to the Vero Beach Community Center for the costume contest.
Two details on the parade side are easy to miss. Children ages 0 to 17 get free Halloween goody bags while supplies last. Entering costs nothing, and the city accepts applications for cars, floats and walking groups through covb.org. The 2026 application confirms the same 9:30 a.m. lineup and 10 a.m. start. If your family wants to walk or decorate a car, the City of Vero Beach is where to apply. Questions go to the Recreation Department at 772-978-4500.
Parking is the practical question for both events. For Downtown Friday, Main Street suggests the courthouse lot, the lot across from American Icon, the lot off Old Dixie, and other free parking nearby. The city's parade materials don't include a road-closure schedule or parking plan. Neither organizer has said which blocks close on either day. If you're heading downtown for anything else between Friday afternoon and Saturday's costume contest, check both event pages that week.
The Room That Changed Over in Nine Days
The Halloween weekend will be the first Downtown Friday season for one business at 2019 14th Ave. Sean Ryan Pub closed there on Aug. 18 after nine years on the avenue. Hometown News reported that the space reopened as Vero Sports Bar and Grill on Aug. 28, in time for college football kickoff. The changeover took nine days.
Lori Moreira bought the pub in August 2026. She renovated it with partner Robert Vaccaro, a customer who pitched her on a dedicated sports bar. The makeover doubled the number of TVs, added Florida sports memorabilia, and created a room dedicated to Vero Beach High School.
The menu doubled too, and regulars will still find their favorites. Here's what stayed and what's new:
- Kept from Sean Ryan's: meatloaf, French dip sandwiches, pot pie, shepherd's pie, and Guinness on tap
- New: burgers, chicken wings, potato skins and nachos
- New local drafts: Walking Tree Lager, Sailfish Sunrise City IPA, and Civil Society's Hazy Fresh IPA
- Trimmed: some of the Irish beer options
Daily specials run from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday is whole lobster, Tuesday is baby back ribs, Wednesday is $10 smash burgers, and Thursday is 99-cent wings. The bar is open from 11 a.m. until late, seven days a week. It plays game audio for major matchups and local Vero Beach High School games. Those hours cover both halves of the Halloween weekend: Friday night during Monster Mash, and Saturday after the costume contest wraps up at the Community Center. The bar's number is 772-217-2183.
The Rest of the Season on the Same Rhythm
Once Halloween weekend is over, the two-Friday pattern carries the calendar. Main Street lists seven Downtown Friday dates from Oct. 30 through May 29, and every Downtown Friday date is the last Friday of its month. December is the only month without one. Its last Friday is Christmas Day, and that date isn't on the schedule.
Here's the calendar through the end of the season:
| Date | Event | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Fri., Nov. 6 | First Friday Gallery Stroll, 5 to 8 p.m. | Vero Beach Art Club, 1903 14th Ave., and participating galleries |
| Sat., Nov. 21 | Downtown Tree Lighting Festival, free, 3 to 7 p.m. | Pocahontas Park, 1216 21st St. |
| Fri., Nov. 27 | Downtown Friday, 6 to 9 p.m. | 14th Avenue |
| Sun., Dec. 6 | Christmas Boat Parade, 6 p.m. | Viewing at Riverside Park, the City Marina and Royal Palm Pointe Park |
| Fri., Jan. 29 | Downtown Friday | 14th Avenue |
| Fri., Feb. 26 | Downtown Friday | 14th Avenue |
| Fri., Mar. 26 | Downtown Friday | 14th Avenue |
| Fri., Apr. 30 | Downtown Friday | 14th Avenue |
| Fri., May 29 | Downtown Friday, season finale | 14th Avenue |
November has the busiest stretch on that list. The Downtown Friday on Nov. 27 is the day after Thanksgiving, so anyone hosting family that week can take them to a street party the next evening. The Tree Lighting Festival comes six days earlier at Pocahontas Park, just off 21st Street, close to where the Halloween Parade lines up. Main Street and the Art Club post their schedules as live pages without publish dates, so check times on the week of each event.
